Christine, I think your comments about Jesus' descent into hell to somehow enable all that he was to become are right on. This is a great mystery and I don't pretend to understand it either. But we know that "he was made perfect in suffering." We also know that when we are tried and tested we come out purified and somehow enlarged in the process. You are in a valley of suffering right now as Tom is in the hospital, as I am with my husband in the hospital with a raging infection. Even though we would change the circumstances for them, we can know nothing "bad" is happening because all will be swept up in Christ's victory and only add to the beauty and grandeur of what God is creating, a lasting kingdom that will last forever and be more glorious than we can comprehend right now. Nothing is wasted in the soil and nothing is wasted in our life's circumstances.
