Yesterday we posted the 34th episode of Liturgical Rebels podcast - a stimulating interview with Victoria Loorz of the Wild Church network. . This has been a stimulating and soul stretching journey for me and for many others who listen. Last year my interviews focused on worship, creativity and Celtic spirituality. This year, my interviews, increasingly focus on faith and ecology, faith and justice, and faith and creativity and my guests come from all over the world. This global perspective is so important in today’s world where there is so much misinformation being thrown at us every day. Keeping informed, listening to voices that challenge and strengthen our faith is an essential spiritual practice for all of us.
In the next few weeks I will interview theologian and advocate Michael Frost from Australia, John Van de Laar, liturgist, song writer and minister from South Africa, Alan Roxborough, pastor, teacher, writer and consultant with more than 30 years experience in church leadership from Canada and marine biologist Rachel Jordan from the U.S. Brian McLaren will return for a discussion of his upcoming novel The Last Voyage, so it will be an exciting summer/winter, those two seasons when settling down with a good book or podcast is a wonderful experience.
Some of my previous guests that you don’t want to miss are:
Earth care and integration of faith with environmentalism.
James Amadon, the Greening of Faith, and the story of Circlewood on Camano Island. This was a special episode that my husband Tom Sine co-hosted;
Caring for the Earth with environmentalist and theologian Ruth Valerio from the U.K.
Embracing Peace and Justice with theologian and activist Ruth Padilla DeBorst born in Argentina but now living in Costa Rica.
Beyond Doom with Brian McLaren . Brian continues to challenge us with the dire state of our world and the need for Christians to take action.
Randy Woodley provides an Indigenous Perspective as he delves into the profound themes of harmony, Shalom, and Indigenous values.
Peace Justice And God’s Dream Of Wholeness
Fair Trade Gold with Greg Valerio This is an amazing story of adventure, advocacy and the role of faith in driving social justice initiatives as Greg delves into the need for justice in the mining and use of gold.
Wealth Poverty and the Mission of the Church with Al Tizon. Filipino by birth but now living in the U.S. Al has not lost his passion for justice, equality and concern for the marginalized.
Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery with Sarah Augustine. Here we delved into the horrors caused by the Doctrine of Discovery, its impact on Indigenous peoples, and the ongoing impact of colonial policies, particularly the ramifications of boarding schools. This was quite an education that challenged me to consider what more I can do in this realm.
The Church and Mission
In Reconstructing Fatih, Alan Hirsch leads us into a bigger understanding of Jesus which includes centering justice, compassion, and equality is necessary for growth.
Ian Mobsby through a study of Contemplation guides us to a new paradigm for mission
Kevin Sweeney - Cosmic Christ, Concrete Jesus discusses the significance of the Black prophetic tradition in shaping his faith and the importance of understanding the Cosmic Christ as a universal force. A mind-blowing journey out of conservatism.
Thank you for your encouraging comments about my podcast. Please feel free to suggest possible guests or send me your feedback. In the current political situation here in the U.S. where concern for the environment, for the poor and the marginalized no longer seems to matter, we need to hear voices that help us reshape our faith and become advocates for the people and the world that Jesus cared for.
